LiveWorkPlay: Our Leadership Team
LiveWorkPlay is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, democratically elected each year by the LWP membership. The membership includes adult clients, parents of clients, representatives from partner organizations, program volunteers, and others with an interest in a prosperous LiveWorkPlay.

The election process takes place at the LWP Annual General Meeting, which is normally held at the end of September or early in October. Successful candidates are put to work immediately, as the LWP Board of Directors is a very active body that typically meets on a formal basis every month, and undertake a series of complex tasks throughout the year. This includes strategic planning and in particular a policy development process that functions according to the principles of the John Carver Policy Governance Model.
In addition to the current six members of the board of directors (pictured above) LiveWorkPlay benefits from the leadership of two Executive Staff who are charged with carrying out the daily business of the organization. These are LiveWorkPlay's two co-founders, Julie Kingstone (President) and Keenan Wellar (CEO), who started the organization in 1995 as volunteers and made LiveWorkPlay their vocation starting in 1997.
Both the Board of Directors and the Executive Staff engage in their own processes for bridging (keeping in touch) with the membership. For the Board this process pertains mainly to planning for the future of the organization - anticipating future needs and strategizing to meet those needs. For the Executive Staff it is mostly about evaluating the here and now and making needed adjustments for improvement. An important annual event for this bridging process is the LiveWorkPlay Visioning Day.
