LiveWorkPlay Receives $1000 with Pita Pit “Refuse To Settle 2018” Award!
LiveWorkPlay has received a $1,000 donation from the Pita Pit Canada “Refuse to Settle 2018 Community Nomination Program.” Multi-franchise owner Andrew Scott made the nomination, and LiveWorkPlay was one of 20 nominees to receive the award for “going above and beyond the norm to embody community spirit.”
The ceremony took place on March 8 at the Pita Pit Kanata location, where LiveWorkPlay member Laura Derham is a valued member of the team. Manager of Employer Partnerships Jen Soucy accepted the funds on behalf of LiveWorkPlay, with help from Andrew and Laura’s co-worker Sydney to hold up the ceremonial cheque.
“Andrew is always thinking of different ways he can help the community, and we’re fortunate that LiveWorkPlay is one of the causes he has chosen to support,” said Jen.

Andrew helped LiveWorkPlay celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3, with an awareness event at his Gloucester location, and was also featured in a series of inclusive employment videos with LiveWorkPlay and Hire for Talent.
“It takes a ‘refuse to settle attitude’ attitude to run your own business, and that’s something I decided to do because it was an opportunity for me to live an extraordinary life of my choosing. I know that’s what LiveWorkPlay wants for all people with intellectual disabilities – the opportunity to live in a home of their own, have a job they love, and to have friends and family they care about.”
