Celebrating 50 Years for Meals on Wheels and 20 Years of Partnership with LiveWorkPlay!
It was a big night for Meals on Wheels Ottawa on Friday, June 8, as they celebrated 50 years and delivery of more than 4.5 million meals, promoting the dignity, health and independence of people who are elderly, have disabilities or are convalescing.
Representing LiveWorkPlay were co-leaders Keenan Wellar and Julie Kingstone, who were there to enjoy the ceremony and the good company, as well as be on hand to witness Lucas Rodgers receive his 3000 hours. Although Lucas is one of the earliest LiveWorkPlay members, having joined back in 1998, he was already volunteering with Meals on Wheels and helped develop what would become a partnership that is now ongoing for 20 years. We’ve introduced dozens of our members as servers (they bring the meal from the car to people’s homes) as well as some drivers from our own volunteer team.
As it happened, Lucas did indeed receive his 3000 hour pin, but also incorporated into the ceremony was a special commemorative 2o year partnership framed print for LiveWorkPlay! This thoughtful gesture is typical of Meals on Wheels and the individuals on their staff team, and explains why the more than 450 volunteers not only enjoy their important role in bringing food to those in need, but also take pride in being a part of the organization.
Congratulations on an amazing 50 years, we look forward to our partnership continuing for another 50 years and beyond!
