BNI Annual Golf Tournament for LiveWorkPlay delivers $10,000 and many future possibilities!

The weather forecast was not looking good, but as is typical of BNI (Business Network International) members and their connections, everyone turned out, hoped for the best, and were rewarded! Yes, there were a few sprinkles to contend with, and just as the golf portion of the day was wrapping up, a virtual deluge pounded the dinner tent, but the buzz in the room was such that even the thunder could not compete.

Through it all, Jocelyne D’Aoust and Denis Brisson never took a moment to breathe as the volunteer team continued selling 50/50, raffle tickets, silent auction, and even an impromptu live auction! Because of the weather the dunk tank activity that was so popular (and lucrative!) last year did not take place as normal, but some innovators came up with a new idea, taking bids from those who would like to dunk them! Ultimately about $1000 was raised from this activity, and promises were kept, with several cold dunks after the weather had cleared.

In addition to the Doyle family (who originally introduced LiveWorkPlay to BNI and got this golf tournament partnership rolling) Keenan joined up with Constance Hudak and David Keay, with their fourth being Keith (husband of Codi Jeffreys from sponsor and on-site music host Jewel 98.5). The team came in with a respectable three under par, with Constance delivering the second-best “closest to the pin” of the day, and Keith delivering a similar runner-up performance in the longest drive.

In his brief dinner speech Keenan mentioned how knowledge and awareness of LiveWorkPlay has grown with the BNI community, and that although the funds are definitely appreciated, one of the most important ways for employers in the room to contribute is through inclusive hiring practices. “I ran out of business cards and had to go and get LiveWorkPlay postcards out of the car, so I’ll take that as a very good sign that more BNI members are going to get in touch to consider employing one of our candidates!” said Keenan.
