Celebrating Togetherness: LiveWorkPlay Festive Family Feast 2017

By design, the social expectations of the Festive Family Feast are very limited, but “holiday sweaters” including clothing that actually lights up is often celebrated at this event!

It’s a tradition that dates back to the LiveWorkPlay early years, although back in 1997 when things got started, it was known as the “Family Brunch.” Over time it evolved into the current Festive Family Feast format, an evening to enjoy a meal, be together, and be thankful for each other and for our community.

By popular request, we asked the wonderful staff at St. Anthony’s Banquet Hall to serve up a turkey dinner, and this was definitely a hit. We heard you! This event will feature a turkey feast from now on (don’t worry, alternatives are available to meet all needs).

With a part of 200 the room was quickly buzzing, and finding an opportunity to interject from the podium was challenging. Fortunately, the agenda was a light one: celebrate the recipients of various honours received earlier in the month with short videos of Emily Menard receiving her Employee Award (for work at Welch LLP) and Grant Webb and Dave Demers from The WORKS receiving their Employer Award (both awards given at Celebration of People). Last but not least, Tara Pahwa was featured in the amazing video collaboration with Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada.

This is the season when many people put an extra effort into helping others, and LiveWorkPlay has received a donation matching offer from an anonymous donor. Donations will be matched up to $10,000 (example, make a donation of $100 and it becomes $200!).

So far $1500 has been donated and matched. If you are thinking about holiday giving, the offer continues until the end of the month or until the $10,000 is gone, whichever comes first. We have a new and easier donation form too! Just type in the box “please match my donation” and that’s all you have to do!
