Make A Buzz 2020 Online Show May 7 and COVID-19 Update

(HAD ENOUGH VIRUS UPDATES? SCROLL DOWN TO MAKE A BUZZ 2020!)

LIVEWORKPLAY COVID-19 UPDATE: A BRIEF NOTE

LiveWorkPlay planning for what eventually became a designated pandemic started in the last week of February, and this allowed our team to respond quickly as conditions and recommendations evolved in early March. On March 13 we launched our staff-supported Zoom chat room, and on March 18 we formalized this service to 76 hours a week, 9-9 weekdays and 9-5 weekends.

We are also using phone and video to communicate for one to one support, and providing in-person support (with precautions as advised by public health authorities) for those who need it. Our Zoom room has evolved into cooking parties, dance parties, and even a National Volunteer Week thank you ritual!

In close coordination with family members, by early April new updated plans were developed for each supported individual. We cannot say enough about the kindness and cooperation of family members in this process, who despite dealing with many serious concerns in their own households, took the time for encouraging words and notes of appreciation. This was unexpected in response to the delivery of unpleasant news about the impact of the pandemic, and the staff and board team are very thankful and grateful for these efforts.

LiveWorkPlay continues to carefully monitor local, provincial, and federal announcements in close cooperation with our sector partners, and we’ll speak no more of it in this message, as no one reading this is not already being overwhelmed with information. But we wanted to share an update and ensure that all of our supporters know that LiveWorkPlay continues full-time operations. Now, on to the fun!

MAKE A BUZZ OTTAWA 2020 GOES ONLINE! AUCTION, MUSIC, MORE!

This will certainly be a 25th anniversary celebration to remember, and we want the memories to include having a lot of fun together! Join us at 6:30 for a cocktail half hour (bring your own drinks) before the show gets started at 7:00!

We’ll have interviews with members, family, volunteers, staff, partners, and of course photo and video memories, and then stay tuned for a LIVE online set by Ottawa’s legendary piano man Dave Kalil. Our online silent auction will open April 30 and close at the end of Dave’s performance.
