From Disappointment to Opportunity: Josh’s Summer Learning Journey 2020

Josh Balanaser was excited about enrolling in courses at Discovery University in the spring of 2020, but unfortunately those plans had to be put on hold due to COVID-19. 

Like everyone else in our community, LiveWorkPlay members have been getting creative with their summer and fall plans, and Josh is no exception. With a bit of help from the Community Connector team at LiveWorkPlay to get set up, he has been completing online courses through his employment union UFCW Canada. After finishing a course in Digital Photography, Josh enrolled in Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Safe Food Handling, earning an Honours distinction!
 
“These UFCW courses and being able to access them over Zoom, it’s just an awesome learning tool,” says Josh.

He isn’t stopping either – Josh has already enrolled in a new course about workplace safety. Check out these photos of his impressive certificate collection – so far!
