BBC StoryWorks Transporation Series Features LiveWorkPlay Member Daniel Pinsonneault in Ottawa!
The Way We Move: Transporting Stories is a BBC StoryWorks feature that was filmed in 20 cities across the world. The Ottawa segment features OC Transpo and LiveWorkPlay member Daniel Pinsonneault, in his home at The Haven in Barrhaven, his work at Costco, and out on the town with his giflriend and a group of friends. The video includes interviews with Daniel, his sister Simone Villeneuve, and Kathy Riley, OC Transpo Accessibiliy Specialist.
“Daniel is an ideal ambassador to share these important messages about accessible transit, and the way it impacts on all aspects of life” says Keenan Wellar, LiveWorkPlay’s Co-Leader and Director of Communications, who provided direct support to the project. “From providing travel training, connecting him to Multifaith Housing, supporting his employment at Costco, and facilitating social meetups, I know that all of us at LiveWorkPlay could not be happier to see our mission, vision, and values brought to life in this way.”
A note from Simone:
On behalf of Daniel, I have some exciting news that we can finally share with our entire family, friends and the world! I am pleased to announce a series produced by BBC Story Works called The Way We Move. Daniel is featured in this incredible series that highlights people from many different countries and how they go about living their lives and moving throughout their communities. The narrative touches upon his life which includes his own apartment, his workplace, friends, girlfriend and his freedom to move about the city of Ottawa. The story reflects his determination and courage to seek a fulfilling life that everyone aspires to have. It is a tribute to our mother (and father!) who dedicated much of her life to ensure Daniel had every opportunity to live his best life.
Kathy Riley, who plays an integral role with OC Transpo’s Travel Training Program was instrumental in organizing many details for the shoot and it was an experience of a lifetime to work with Josh and Blaze who were contracted by BBC to create this part of the series. They truly did an amazing job putting it all together! A big thank you to Anthony Taza , the management and his co-workers at Costco who supported this opportunity. Everyone, including his friends featured in the film all played an integral part in making this project come to fruition!
We are extremely grateful for the support of LiveWorkPlay, namely Keenan and Ron for their help in organizing aspects of the film shoots. The on-going support of the LWP staff plays an integral part in helping Daniel to succeed and live his incredible, independent life.
Our hope is that this story will move people around the world to truly see the ability in all members of our communities and to realize that anything is possible with the love and support of family, friends and our community partners!
It is a moving story and I am so proud of Daniel. He was so natural in front of the camera and he’s truly an amazing human being. ❤️
