LiveWorkPlay Celebrates National Volunteer Week 2023, April 16-22 “Volunteering Weaves Us Together”
Hello and welcome to National Volunteer Week. I’m Batoul Auf, and it’s been my absolute pleasure to serve as People Connector and Volunteer Coordinator here at LiveWorkPlay over the past year while Alex Darling is on leave with her baby girl Adeline. The volunteer week theme for 2023 is Volunteering Weaves Us Together, and that is a perfect fit for the role of over 150 volunteers here at LiveWorkPlay. They make personal connections through our one-on-one matching initiative where each person in the evolving friendship has the opportunity to share their own interests and connections. Could be sports, arts, music, whatever interests they choose to share together. Our Friday night meetups offer small gatherings across the city where volunteers join with our members to enjoy movies, dinners, nature walks, concerts, and the truly endless list of possibilities in our abundant Ottawa community. Last but not least, volunteers are vital to committees, task forces, and our board of directors, helping out with governance, advocacy, fundraising, and more! These diverse forms of sharing of time, talent, and energy, strengthen the fabric of our community and provide just a few examples of the interconnectedness, inclusion, and diversity that helps build a healthy Ottawa. Throughout the week, LiveWorkPlay will share some photos of our volunteers in action to help showcase National Volunteer Week 2023. And we hope to see you at Make A Buzz Ottawa on May 11th, it’s where some of our volunteers will receive individual recognition for their efforts [https://bzbz.ca/buzz2023]. And if you’re interested in learning more about joining the volunteer team, let’s talk! #NVW2023
