Governance and Board

Board

LiveWorkPlay is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors of up to seven individuals, democratically elected each year by the LiveWorkPlay nonprofit corporation membership. The membership includes adult clients, parents of clients, representatives from partner organizations, volunteers, and others with an interest in a prosperous LiveWorkPlay and committed to the pursuit of our charitable mission to help the community welcome and include people with intellectual disabilities, autistic persons, and individuals with a dual diagnosis to live, work, and play as valued citizens.

You can learn about our Annual General Meeting by accessing our annual reports (see list below) which includes biographies of all board members.

After their election at the AGM, successful candidates are put to work immediately, as the LiveWorkPlay Board of Directors is a very active body that typically meets on a formal basis about twelve times per year, and also attends numerous internal and external events and meetings. This includes our two board committees, Governance and Stewardship, which include staff, board members, and other volunteers.

The LiveWorkPlay board governance approach includes the use of real-time strategic planning, as well as principles and procedures drawn from the BoardSource Governance as Leadership methodology. The board meets its fiduciary responsibilities through a set schedule of reviews that include third party information and input.

You may contact our board chair with governance inquires by emailing chair@liveworkplay.ca. Please note that the Chair does not address operational concerns, and will refer operational inquires to the appropriate staff member.
