Philip Delangy Receives the LiveWorkPlay Community Ambassador Award 2025
Philip Delangy receives the LiveWorkPlay Community Ambassador Award 2025
Joshua Gray, LiveWorkPlay Inclusive Employment Specialst:
Good evening. My name is Joshua Gray, and it is my honour to present tonight’s Community Ambassador Award.
I have come to know this very deserving recipient over many years in my many different roles as a member of the employment team at LiveWorkPlay.
This annual award goes to an individual supported by LiveWorkPlay that gives their time, energy, and talents in pursuit of the advocacy goals our organization shares.
These efforts typically include the championing of inclusion and showcasing the many valuable contributions people with intellectual disabilities and autistic persons make in our community.
Some recent recipients include Tim Siebrasse, Tara Pahwa, Phil Landreville, Janet Balcome, Cooper Gage, Daniel Pinsonneault, and from last year, Graham Armstrong.
We first had the honour of meeting this year’s recipient way back in 2017, when he was fresh out of college. We knew he was an incredible candidate for employment.
It took a bit of time to find the right opportunity, but his career moved fast. After working with Public Services and Procurement Canada, he made the move to Health Canada in 2019, where he continues to work to this day, and is now a full-time indeterminate employee.
Beyond his employment successes, tonight’s recipient has represented LiveWorkPlay on many occasions, at a variety of events, and in different venues.
He has presented to our Federal Employment Strategy Group in front of over 50+ HR professionals, managers, and directors telling his story and encouraging more inclusive hiring.
Keenan Wellar and I were fortunate to be at an event with Canada’s Treasury Board Secretariat, where this individual was invited as guest speaker to celebrate “Disability Employment Awareness Month”. There he delivered a moving speech about career advancement that no one who was in that room will ever forget.
2024 was a busy year for this award recipient. At the end of May, he spoke as panelist for a Statistics Canada event about “Diversity within Disability” as a feature of National AccessAbility Week.
When plans were being made for the “Disability and Work in Canada Conference” in December, our friends and partners at Ready, Willing and Able asked us if we had a panelist who could join their session on inclusive hiring. We made the call, and again, he accepted that challenge.
Our 2025 Community Ambassador Award recipient is kind and humble, a hardworking public servant, and, I almost forgot to mention, he presents in both French and English!
We are truly grateful for his amazing advocacy in promoting inclusive employment.
Please join me in congratulating Philip Delangy, this year’s recipient of the LiveWorkPlay Community Ambassador Award!
