Celebrating Community: LiveWorkPlay Family BBQ Event Scores Big At TD Place!

The welcome to summer barbecue event on June 15 was supposed to be a one-time phenemenon, but it was so popular that within minutes, the search was on for a possible date to repeat it in the fall. Despite the very busy schedule of events at TD Place, we managed to book the evening of September 8. Attendees were rewarded with not only the perfect weather, but also a serenade by performers at the nearby CityFolk music festival! The timing was perfect as legendary artist Kathleen Edwards could be heard loud and clear for most of the evening as we feasted at the BBQ buffet, played soccer, football, frisbee, and beanbag toss on the field, picked up orders of LiveWorkPlay fleece jackets, and mainly, we just talked and laughed!

“Originally we had a busy agenda featuring Kimothy Walker as guest co-host of The LiveWorkPlay News and Kenny Hayes as our musical performer,” explained Keenan Wellar, organizer for the event. “But when we realized CityFolk would be starting, we contacted Kimothy and Kenny, who were very gracious, and decided that we wouldn’t try to compete with the music festival, we’d just make it a part of the experience. It was a great decision! The music was amazing and with no agenda, it was just a nonstop mix and mingle on a beautiful evening.” We have an entire album of photos from the event (special thanks to Chris Floyd for most of these images) but we’ve posted a sampling her to capture the spirit of the memories we made!
